Col. Ricky N. Rupp, formerly vice commander of the 18th Wing, Kadena Air Base, Japan, will be sworn in as commander of the 22nd Air Refueling Wing at a change of command ceremony here at 10 a.m on Thursday, June 21, in Hangar 1186.
The change of command ceremony is a time-honored tradition in the military wherein the outgoing commander symbolically relinquishes authority over the unit by the passing of the guidon to the incoming commander. Col. James W. Crowhurst, current 22nd ARW commander, will relinquish command of the 22nd ARW to Colonel Rupp before traveling to the Pentagon, where he will serve as the U.S. Air Force Headquarters Director of Air Operations.
