Col. Joel D. Jackson, currently working at the Pentagon, will be sworn in as commander of the 22nd Air Refueling Wing during a change of command ceremony at 10 a.m., May 31, in Hangar 1106.
The change of command ceremony is a time-honored tradition in the military wherein the outgoing commander symbolically relinquishes authority over the unit by the passing of the guidon to the incoming commander.
Col. Ricky N. Rupp, current 22nd ARW commander, will relinquish command of the 22nd ARW to Jackson before traveling to United States Army Garrison, Yongsan Korea where he serves as the special assistant to the United States Forces Korea commander, Gen. James D. Thurman.
